This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Connecting IB Front-end Ports

Connecting IB Front-end Ports

Connect InfiniBand (IB) front-end ports on a controller enclosure to ports on an application server through Fourteen Data Rate (FDR) cables so that service channels are set up for data exchange between the storage device and the application server.


The required installation tools and materials include FDR cables.


A storage device can be connected to an application server in either of two ways:

  1. Connect one end of an FDR cable to an IB port.
  2. Set up a connection to an IB port on the application server.

    • Direct connection: Connect the other end of the FDR cable to an IB port on the application server.
    • Switch-based connection: Connect the other end of the FDR cable to a switch. Then connect the switch to the application server through an FDR cable.

  3. Repeat Step 1 to Step 2 to connect other IB ports to the application server.
  4. Lay out and bind the FDR cables.
