(Optional) Installing and Configuring the Key Management Server

(Optional) Installing and Configuring the Key Management Server

Before using self-encrypting disks, install and configure key management servers, and interconnect them with the storage system. Types of key management servers for Huawei storage systems include keyAuthority from Thales and KeySecure from SafeNet.

OceanStor 5000 and 6000 series storage systems support disk encryption by configuring self-encrypting disks and independent key management servers that comply with the FIPS 140-2 LEVEL3 security standard.

If the key management server is to be configured for the storage system, install and configure it by referring to OceanStor V5 Series V500R007 Disk Encryption User Guide after the initialization of the storage system to ensure secure storage services.

To ensure that the configurations of the key management server can be backed up, deploy the NFS server in the network before installing and configuring the keyAuthority key management server. Before installing and configuring the KeySecure key management server, ensure that the SCP server has been deployed in the network.
