This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Connecting DC Power Cables

When a DC power supply is used to supply power for the storage system, connect the DC power cables correctly before powering on the device.

Prerequisites

The storage system is disconnected from the external power supply.

The required installation tools and materials include:

  • DC power cables
  • Diagonal pliers
  • Phillips screwdriver

Context

  • To ensure power reliability, you need to connect the power cables in two sides of the storage system to two independent power supplies. When one fails, the other can supply power.
  • The input DC voltage ranges from -48 V to -60 V.
  • Using DC power prolongs the service life of devices to some extent. In many equipment rooms, DC power is regarded as standard.

Procedure

  1. Connect the DC power cables of the controller enclosure.

    NOTE:

    Figure 6-78 shows the 2 U controller enclosure connecting the DC power cable, and Figure 6-79 shows the 3 U/6 U controller enclosure connecting the DC power cable.

    1. Remove the plastic insulation tubes on the OT terminals of the DC power cables with the diagonal pliers.
    2. Remove the protective cover on the DC power module, as shown in step 1 of Figure 6-78.

    3. Unfasten the screws of the DC power cable with the Phillips screwdriver, put the screws through the shock absorption sheets, washers, and OT terminal round holes, and then fasten the screws that attach the power module, as shown in step 2 of Figure 6-78.
      NOTE:
      • When unfastening the screws from the DC power cable, prevent the shock absorption sheets and washers from sliding off.
      • Connect the OT terminal of the black cable to the RTN (+) end, and the OT terminal of the blue cable to the NEG (-) end. (The colors of DC power cables that connect to the anode and cathode of the DC power supply are subject to the colors of the DC power cables actually configured in users' equipment rooms.)
    4. Install the protective cover on the DC power module, as shown in step 3 of Figure 6-78.

  2. Repeat Step 1.1 to Step 1.4 to connect the DC power supply to disk enclosures.
  3. Check whether the DC power cables of the controller enclosure and disk enclosures are correctly connected to the DC power supply. Figure 6-80, Figure 6-81, and Figure 6-82 show how to connect a controller enclosure and an ordinary disk enclosure using DC power cables.
