Installing a Controller Enclosure

Installing a Controller Enclosure

Installing a controller enclosure into a cabinet includes installing the controller enclosure into the cabinet, fastening the controller enclosure, and checking the installation.

Prerequisites

Before installing a controller enclosure into a cabinet, ensure that the guide rails and floating nuts are installed properly.

The required installation tools and materials are as follows:

  • M6 screws
  • Phillips screwdriver (M3 to M6)

Precautions

Arrange for at least three and four persons to carry and install a 3 U controller enclosure and a 6 U controller enclosure respectively to avoid personal injury or device damage.

  • If you remove controllers to facilitate the movement and installation of the device, record the mapping between each controller and its slot in advance. That helps insert each controller back to its correct slot after the movement and installation. If the controller is inserted into a different location, a system power-on failure may occur.
  • Storage devices must be installed on adjustable guide rails. Stacking devices may damage devices.

Installing a 2 U Controller Enclosure

  1. Slide a 2 U controller enclosure into the cabinet and use M6 screws to secure it to the cabinet, as shown in Figure 5-72.

  2. Check that the controller enclosure is horizontally installed and tightly screwed in.

Installing a 3 U Controller Enclosure

  1. Slide a 3 U controller enclosure into the cabinet and use M6 screws to secure it to the cabinet, as shown in Figure 5-73.

  2. Check that the controller enclosure is horizontally installed and tightly screwed in.

Installing a 6 U Controller Enclosure

  1. Remove the controllers of a 6 U controller enclosure, as shown in Figure 5-74.

    NOTE:

When removing a controller, record its slot ID, so that it can be reinserted into its original location. If the controller is inserted into a different location, a system power-on failure may occur.

  2. Remove the power modules of the 6 U controller enclosure, as shown in Figure 5-75.

  3. Slide a 6 U controller enclosure into the cabinet and use M6 screws to secure it to the cabinet, as shown in Figure 5-76.

  4. Install the controllers of the 6 U controller enclosure, as shown in Figure 5-77.

    NOTE:

Insert the controller into its original slot as recorded. Otherwise, the system may not be correctly powered on.
