The create snapshot general command is used to create snapshots. You can create an identical and usable point-in-time duplicate for a data object by running this command.

create snapshot general lun_id_list=? name=? [ snapshot_id=? | snapshot_id_list=? ] [ description=? ]

ID of a source logical unit number (LUN).

To obtain the value, run "show snapshot available_lun".

You can specify multiple source LUN IDs separated by commas (,), or ID range separated by hyphens (-), such as: 0, 5-8.

Name of a snapshot.

The value contains 1 to 31 characters including letters, digits, hyphens (-), underscores (_), and periods (.).

When creating snapshots in a batch, the length of "name=?" cannot exceed 27 characters.

ID of a snapshot. This parameter is used to set the ID for a newly created snapshot. After the snapshot ID is set, it cannot be changed.

The value is an integer ranging from 0 to 65535.

Snapshot ID list. This parameter is used to set the IDs for newly created snapshots. After the snapshot IDs are set, they cannot be changed.

You can add multiple snapshot IDs that are separated by commas (,) or by hyphens (-) to represent the ID range. For example: 100,110-115.

Snapshot description.

The value contains 1 to 255 characters.

Usage Guidelines

You can create multi-snapshots for different LUNs in the mean time.

  • Create a snapshot for LUN "5", and the name is "new".
    admin:/>create snapshot general lun_id_list=5 name=new
Create snapshot of LUN 5 successfully.
  • Create a snapshot respectively for LUNs "1", "3", and "4".
    admin:/>create snapshot general lun_id_list=1,3,4 name=new001
Create snapshot of LUN 1 successfully.
Create snapshot of LUN 3 successfully.
Create snapshot of LUN 4 successfully.
