create remote_device general

create remote_device general

Function

The create remote_device general command is used to create remote devices. You must create a remote device easily by running this command before you can perform LUN copy or remote replication between the storage system and the remote device.

Format

create remote_device general array_type=? remote_user=? link_type=? { link_id=? | local_controller=? | local_port_id=? ip=? [ recovery_policy=? ] [ fast_write_enable=? ] } *

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Value

array_type=?

Type of a remote device.

The value can be:

  • "replication": The remote device is from Huawei.
  • "cloud_replication": The remote device is made by Huawei and suports cloud replication.

remote_user=?

Name used to log in to the remote device.

The value consists of 6 to 32 ASCII characters, including digits, letters, and underscores (_), and must start with a letter. The default value is "mm_user".

link_type=?

Type of a link.

The value can be "FC" or "iSCSI", where:

  • "FC": The remote device and the local device connect to each other through Fibre Channel links.
  • "iSCSI": The remote device and the local device connect to each other through iSCSI links.

link_id=?

ID of a Fibre Channel link. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "FC".

To obtain the value, run "show remote_device link".

local_controller=?

ID of a local controller to which a link connects. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "iSCSI".

The value is in the format of "XA", "XB", "XC" or "XD", where the "X" is an integer ranging from 0 to 3.

local_port_id=?

ID of an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) host port. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "iSCSI".

To obtain the value, run "show port general".

ip=?

IP address of a remote device. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "iSCSI".

-

recovery_policy=?

Link recovery policy. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "iSCSI".

The value can be "automatic" or "manual", where:

  • "automatic": automatic recovery.
  • "manual": manual recovery.

The default value is "automatic".

fast_write_enable=?

State of fast write. This parameter is valid only when "link_type=?" is set to "iSCSI".

The value can be "yes" or "no", where:

  • "yes": Fast write will be enabled.
  • "no": Fast write will not be enabled.

The default value is "yes".

Level

Administrator

Usage Guidelines

If the version of the local device is different from that of the remote device, you need to add a remote device on the device of the later version. Otherwise the operation may fail.

  • The account used for communication authentication between remote devices.
    • If the version of the local device is the same as that of the remote device, you need to use the machine-machine account. The machine-machine account is "mm_user".
    • If the version of the local device is different from that of the remote device, you need to use the super administrator or administrator account on the remote device of the earlier version. Obtain the super administrator or administrator account on the remote device.
  • Password of the account used for communication authentication between remote devices.
    • The default password of the machine-machine account is "mm_user@storage". To change the password, run "change mm_user password".
    • Ensure that the password of the super administrator or administrator account is consistent with the password of the remote device.

Example

Create a Huawei remote device, where the link type is "FC", the link ID is "0", and the name of logging in to the remote device is "mm_user".

admin:/>create remote_device general array_type=replication remote_user=mm_user link_type=FC link_id=0
