create schedule relocate

create schedule relocate

The create schedule relocate command is used to create SmartTier data relocation policies. By creating data relocation policies, you can relocate the data in a storage pool at a specific time to fully utilize the performance and capacity features of different storage tiers and to improve overall storage system performance.

create schedule relocate name=? pool_id=? period=? [ day_of_week=? ] [ start_time=? ] [ duration=? ]

duration=? Data relocation duration.

The value is in the format of HH:MM or H:M. The value ranges from 00:30 to 24:00.

The default value is "04:00".

pool_id=? ID of a storage pool in which data relocation will be performed.

To obtain the value, run "show storage_pool general".

start_time=? Time from which data relocation will be started on a specific day in a week.

The value is in the format of HH:MM. The value ranges from 00:00 to 23:59.

The default value is "01:00".

period=? Relocation period.

The value can be:

  • "daily": The policy is executed daily.
  • "weekly": The policy is executed weekly.
name=? Name of a data relocation policy.

The value contains 1 to 31 characters including digits, letters, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).

day_of_week=? Day on which data relocation will be cycled weekly. This parameter must be assigned and it is valid only when period=? is set to "weekly".

You can specify multiple days in a week and separate them with commas (,). The value can be "sun", "mon", "tue", "wed", "thu", "fri", or "sat", where:

  • "sun": indicates Sunday.
  • "mon": indicates Monday.
  • "tue": indicates Tuesday.
  • "wed": indicates Wednesday.
  • "thu": indicates Thursday.
  • "fri": indicates Friday.
  • "sat": indicates Saturday.

Usage Guidelines

  • The prerequisite for running this command is that the selected storage pool contains at least two storage tiers.
  • The SmartTier data relocation function can fully utilize the performance and capacity features of different hard disks on the storage system. For example, you can use this function to relocate hot data to the high-performance tier consisting of solid state drives (SSDs), and to relocate cold data to the capacity tier consisting of near line serial attached SCSI (NL-SAS) disks.
  • Data relocation policies are formulated by referring to I/O monitoring policies. For details on creating I/O monitoring policies, see "create schedule monitor".
  • OceanStor 18500 V5, 18500 V5 Kunpeng, 18800 V5 and 18800 V5 Kunpeng storage systems support this command.

Create a data relocation policy on storage pool "2", where the name of the policy is "newrelocate", the policy will be started from "12:05" on each Tuesday, and the policy execution will last for an hour.

admin:/>create schedule relocate name=newrelocate pool_id=2 period=weekly day_of_week=tue start_time=12:05 duration=1:00
Command executed successfully.
