add disk_domain disk

add disk_domain disk

Function

The add disk_domain disk command is used to add disks to a disk domain.

Format

add disk_domain disk disk_domain_id=? disk_list=? [ enhanced_data_protection_policy=? ]

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Value

disk_domain_id=?

ID of a disk domain to which you want to add disks.

To obtain the value, run "show disk_domain general".

disk_list=?

ID list of disks that you want to add to a disk domain. If you specify this parameter, you cannot specify parameters disk_type=? and disk_number=?.

The value can be "all", disk ID range, or disk ID list, where:

  • "all": All free disks are added to a disk domain.
  • Disk ID range: The format is start disk ID-end disk ID, for example, DAE000.1-5.
  • Disk ID list: Multiple disk IDs are separated with commas (,), for example, DAE000.1,DAE000.2,DAE000.3.

To obtain the value, press "Ctrl+A" or run "show disk general".

disk_number=?

Number of disks that you want to add to a disk domain. When you use this parameter with parameter disk_type=?, the system automatically adds disks of specified types and quantity to a disk domain. If you specify this parameter, you cannot specify parameter disk_list=?.

The value is an integer ranging from 1 to 2147483647.

disk_type=?

Type of a disk that you want to add to a disk domain.

The value can be "SAS", "NearLine_SAS", "SSD", "SAS_SED", "NearLine_SAS_SED", "SSD_SED", or "SATA", where:

  • "SAS": SAS disk.
  • "NearLine_SAS": NL-SAS disk.
  • "SSD": SSD.
  • "SAS_SED": self-encrypting SAS disk.
  • "NearLine_SAS_SED": self-encrypting NL-SAS disk.
  • "SSD_SED": self-encrypting SSD.
  • "SATA": SATA disk.
NOTE:

The following describes the disk type supported by each storage tier:

  • Tier 0 (high performance tier): SSD.
  • Tier 1 (performance tier): SAS disk.
  • Tier 2 (capacity tier): NL-SAS disk.

enhanced_data_protection_policy=?

Whether to use the enhanced data protection policy.

The value can be "yes" or "no", where:

  • "yes": uses the enhanced data protection policy.
  • "no": does not use the enhanced data protection policy.

The default value is "yes".

Level

Administrator

Usage Guidelines

If the number of added disks is smaller than the maximum number of disks for a RAID level that maps to storage pools in a disk domain, note the following items:

  • Create a LUN or expand LUN capacity after data is leveled in the disk domain.
  • If a thick LUN is created before data leveling is complete, start host services on the LUN after space allocation or formatting.

Example

  • Add two SAS disks to disk domain "0".

    admin:/>add disk_domain disk disk_domain_id=0 disk_number=2 disk_type=SAS
    CAUTION: You are about to expand the capacity of the disk domain.
    This operation will add disks to the disk domain and the added disks cannot be removed from the disk domain.
    Suggestion: Before performing this operation, check whether the added disks meet service requirements. If no, add disks that meet service requirements.
    Do you wish to continue?(y/n)y
    Command executed successfully.

  • Add two SAS disks to disk domain "0" without using the enhanced data protection policy.
    admin:/>add disk_domain disk disk_domain_id=0 disk_number=2 disk_type=SAS enhanced_data_protection_policy=no
    WARNING: You are about to perform this operation without using the enhanced data protection policy, which may reduce data reliability.
    Suggestion: Before performing this operation, ensure that the risk is acceptable.
    Have you read warning message carefully?(y/n)y
    Are you sure you really want to perform the operation?(y/n)y
    Command executed successfully.
