Function

The change tgt_switch caw_feature command is used to enable or disable storage devices' VAAI hardware-assisted locking function.

change tgt_switch caw_feature switch=?

The value is "on" or "off", where:

  • "on": turns on the switch of storage devices' VAAI hardware-assisted locking function.
  • "off": turns off the switch of storage devices' VAAI hardware-assisted locking function.

Usage Guidelines

  • If this switch is turned off, a VMware host cannot use storage devices' VAAI hardware-assisted locking function. If the host delivers a hardware-assisted locking command to a storage device, the storage device returns a message indicting that the operation fails.
  • Before performing this operation, ensure that you have disabled the hardware-assisted locking function on the VMware host. After this operation, restart the VMware host.

Disable storage devices' VAAI hardware-assisted locking function.

DANGER: You are about to disable the VAAI hardware-assisted locking function of the storage device. If this operation is performed, the VMware host cannot use the VAAI hardware-assisted locking function of the storage device. If the host delivers a hardware-assisted locking command to the storage device, the storage device returns a failure message. 
Suggestion: Before performing this operation, ensure that you have disabled the hardware-assisted locking function on the VMware host. After this operation, restart the VMware host.
