Replacing an AC Power Module

Replacing an AC Power Module

This section describes how to replace an AC power module.

Impact on the System

During the replacement of a power module, if the redundant power module fails, the corresponding quorum server is unexpectedly powered off, causing all services in the quorum server to be interrupted.

  • When two power modules are configured, remove one power module without powering off the quorum server if the other power module is operating properly and its power rating is greater than or equal to the rated power of the quorum server.
  • You have determined the position on the quorum server for removing a power module.
  • You have obtained the rack number and chassis number of the quorum server.
  • You have located the quorum server based on the preceding information, and labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.
  • The spare part is ready.

Tools and Materials

  • ESD gloves or ESD wrist strap
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag

  1. (Optional) If only one power module is configured, power off the quorum server.
  2. Remove the AC power module.

    1. Open the cable tie for the power cable. See Figure 6-229.

    2. Remove the power cable from the power module to be replaced. See Figure 6-230.

    3. Press the spring on the power module in the arrow direction, and pull the power module out of the slot while holding the handle. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 6-231.

    4. Place the removed power module in an ESD bag.

  3. Install the AC power module.

    1. Take the spare AC power module out of the ESD bag.
    2. Push the spare AC power module along the guide rails into a slot until you hear a click.
The power module spring snaps into the latch so that the power module does not move. See Figure 6-232.

    3. Connect the power cable to the power module. See Figure 6-233.

    4. Secure the power cable using a cable tie. See Figure 6-234.

  4. (Optional) If only one power module is configured, power on the quorum server.
