This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, 6800F V5, 18500 V5, 18500F V5, 18800 V5, and 18800F V5. This document describes the procedure for replacing the parts of storage system in terms of safety operations, preparations, and precautions.

Installing SmartKit

Installing SmartKit

This operation enables you to install SmartKit and desired tool packages on your maintenance terminal.


  1. Download SmartKit.

    1. Use the maintenance terminal to log in to In the search box on the home page, type SmartKit and choose Cloud Storage > Tools and Platforms > SmartKit from the drop-down list. The search result page is displayed.
    2. On the search result page, click the Software Download tab.
    3. On the Software Download tab page, click the SmartKit version that you want to download. The page for downloading the software is displayed.
    4. In the Version and Patch Software area, download the software you need.

      If the maintenance terminal cannot access the Internet, you need to use another terminal that can access the Internet to download the SmartKit installation package. Then copy the package to the maintenance terminal.

  2. Install SmartKit.

    1. On the maintenance terminal, run the SmartKit installation package and follow the instructions provided by the installation wizard to install SmartKit.

      After the installation is complete, SmartKit will automatically start.

    2. Type your support website account as prompted to activate SmartKit and read safety precautions.
    • You can apply for an account of the support website at
    • You have 180 days to use an account after it is activated. If there are only 45 days or fewer days left, you will be reminded of activating the tool again. If the tool is not activated after 180 days, you only have permissions of a Visitor.

  3. (Optional) Install FRU replacement tool package.

    • If your maintenance terminal can access the Internet, choose Home > Storage > Parts Replacement > Parts Replacement. In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK to download and install it.
    • If your maintenance terminal cannot access the Internet, click Import on the Home tab page and select the tool package that is exported from another SmartKit environment to import and install it in offline mode.
