Creating a Bare VM

Creating a Bare VM

Create a bare VM first before creating a VM template. You need to determine VM basic parameters, such as the operating system (OS) type and version, hardware specifications (including CPUs, memory capacity, and the number of disks and NICs), the port group that NICs belong to, the data storage type of disks, configuration mode, and capacity. After determining the basic parameters, create a bare VM on FusionCompute.

This document uses V100R006C00U1 as an example to describe operations concerning the FusionCompute management page. The operations may vary depending on the version.

  • The computing, storage, and network resources required for creating VMs are available.
  • You have logged in to FusionCompute.

For details about key data and parameters, see the description given in specific procedures.

Create a bare VM.

  1. On the FusionCompute portal, choose VM and Template > Getting Started. Click Create VM.

The Create VM page is displayed.

  2. Select Create VM, click Next, and set related parameters, as shown in Table 2-4.

You are advised to use the high-performance storage instead of the low-performance storage, such as NL-SAS and SATA.

    Table 2-4 Parameter settings

    VM Name

Name: Identifies an RD Licensing server, for example, RDS_License.

    Computing Resource

Specifies the location where the VM is to be created. The default value ManagementCluster is recommended.

    • OS: Select Windows.
    • OS Version: Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard 64bit is recommended.

    VM Hardware Specification

    • CPU: Configure two CPUs.
    • Memory: Configure 2 GB memory.

      Set Reserved(MB) to Maximum.

    • NICs1: Set Port group to the service plane network of FusionAccess infrastructure VMs.
    • Disks1: Set Configuration mode to Common and Capacity(GB) to 50.

    HA: Deselect Enable.

  3. Retain default values for other parameters and create a bare VM as prompted.
