Constraints

Constraints

Observe the following when using the application virtualization feature:

  • Only applications that can be deployed on the Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016 OS are supported.
    • The Windows Server 2012 R2 standard edition (which is recommended) is supported.
    • The Windows Server 2012 R2 data center edition is supported.
    • The Windows Server 2016 standard edition is supported.
    • The Windows Server 2016 data center edition is supported.
  • For Remote Desktop Mode (RDP) login to the APS server, only the administrator account is currently supported.
  • Shared desktop and remote application services do not support screen locking.

  • Software compatibility
Application software must meet the following requirements:
    • Software must support multi-instance running, that is, multiple instances can be run concurrently.
    • Software that can be run only by users with administrator rights is not supported.
  • License

See Overview > FusionAccess License in the FusionAccess Desktop Solution V100R006C20SPC100 License Usage Guide.

  • Profile and personal data storage

If personal data needs to be stored, you need to configure profile and personal data storage. If profile and personal data storage is not configured, do not store personal data on the Application Server (APS server). Otherwise, personal information will be accessed by other users, causing information leakage.

User profile data of shared desktops and remote applications is stored on a third-party shared file server using the roaming user configuration and folder redirection functions of Windows OSs. Implementation of this solution relies on Microsoft. Users' application configurations can access only one server. When a user runs multiple applications and access multiple application servers, multiple copies of user roaming configurations are generated. If user configurations are modified separately, a configuration conflict occurs, and modified data cannot be saved to roaming user configurations.

User personal data is stored on a third-party shared storage system, such as network attached storage (NAS).

  • Rights- and domain-based management does not apply to the application virtualization scenario.
  • The application virtualization feature publishes applications and desktops using the RDS service of the Windows Server 2012 R2. Users are isolated from each other based on sessions and do not affect each other. However, if a fault or security problem occurs on the OSs or applications that are shared by all users, all users are affected. Therefore, the application virtualization feature does not apply to users who have high security and isolation requirements.
