Converting a VM into a Template

Scenarios

On the FusionCompute portal, convert a VM into a template.

Prerequisites

You have logged in to FusionCompute.

Data

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

Procedure

Convert a VM into a template.

  1. On the FusionCompute portal, choose VM and Template > VM.
  2. Locate the row that contains the target VM, choose More > Shut Down, and click OK twice.
  3. When the VM is in the Stopped state, choose More > Convert to Template.

    A dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click OK.

    A dialog box is displayed.

  5. Click OK.

Configure the template.

  1. On the FusionAccess portal, click Desktop.
  2. In the navigation tree, choose Service Configuration > VM Template.
  3. In the right pane, configure the template type and click OK.
  4. Click Confirm in the displayed dialog box.

    A message stating Template Configuration saved successfully is displayed.

  5. Click Back and check the template type.
  6. Decide whether the template type is linked clone.

    • If yes, go to Step 12.
    • If no, no further action is required.

  7. Decide whether to enable the iCache function.

    • If yes, go to Step 13.
    • If no, no further action is required.

Enable the iCache function.

  1. On the FusionCompute portal, choose VM and Template > Template.
  2. Locate the row that contains the new template, and choose More > Configure iCache.

    The Configure iCache page is displayed.

    NOTE:

    If the iCache is enabled on the host or the host is abnormal, the host cannot be selected.

  3. In the host list, select a host to provide memory resources for the iCache function, and click OK.

    You can view the iCache configuration progress on the Task Center page.
