Creating a Domain User


Create a domain user in the user OU on the active AD server and add the domain user to a user group so that the system administrator can manage the domain users with different rights.


You have logged in to the active AD server using an administrator account.


Table 3-9 lists the data to be obtained before this operation.

The domain username consists of digits, letters, spaces, and special characters, such as `~!#$%^&()-_{}..

The password must conform to the following rules:

  • Contain at least one uppercase letter (A-Z), one lowercase letter (a-z), one digit (0-9), and one space character or special character (~!@#$%^&*()-_=+\|{};:'",<.>/?).
  • Contain 8 to 32 characters.
  • Cannot be same as the recent three passwords.
  • Cannot contain the username or the username in reversed order.
  • Username: JRS0001
  • Password: Singlecloud123#


Create a domain user.

  1. On the active AD server, choose > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers.

    The Active Directory Users and Computers window is displayed.

  2. In the navigation tree, right-click OU Name and choose New > User.

    The New Object - User page is displayed.

  3. Set registration information of the domain user, as shown in Figure 3-2.

    • User logon name specifies the domain account of the user. The parameter value is used when a virtual machine (VM) is assigned.
    • If User logon name is different from User logon name (pre-Windows 2000), User logon name (pre-Windows 2000) is used when a VM is assigned.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Enter the new password of the domain user in Password and Confirm password.
  6. Select User must change password at next logon and click Next.
  7. Click Finish.

    The created domain user is displayed in the right pane.

  8. Decide whether to add the domain user to a user group.

    • If yes, go to Step 9.
    • If no, no further action is required.

Add the domain user to a user group.

  1. In the right pane, right-click User Name and choose Add to a group.

    The Select Groups window is displayed.

  2. In the Enter the object names to select area, enter the user group name.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the displayed dialog box, click OK.
