Installing the Mainboard and Server Node Case

Procedure

  1. Take the spare part out of its ESD bag.
  2. Place the server node on the ESD workstation.
  3. Determine the position of the mainboard and the server node case.

  4. Connect all the cables to the mainboard.

  5. Install processors.

    For details, see Installing a Processor.

  6. Install memory modules.

    For details, see Installing a Memory Module.

  7. Install the TPM.

    For details, see Installing the TPM.

  8. Install the PCIe riser modules.

    For details, see Installing the PCIe Riser Module.

  9. Install the screw-in RAID controller card.

    For details, see Installing the Screw-in RAID Controller Card.

  10. Install the supercapacitor if it is configured.

    For details, see Installing the Supercapacitor.

  11. Install the air duct.

    For details, see Installing the Air Duct.

  12. Install the server node.

    For details, see Installing an XH321 V5.

  13. Power on the server node.

    For details, see Power-On Procedure.

  14. Check the indicator status. If the health status indicator is steady green, the server node is running properly.

  15. To burn the original ESN into the new mainboard after replacement, contact the technical support.

    If the original device SN is not burnt in the new mainboard, the iBMC and OS cannot obtain the device SN. This may affect the running of some services or the monitoring and management on the device.

  16. After the mainboard is replaced, the LOM is replaced and the MAC address of the LOM is changed. If the LOM is used for transferring data, you need to configure the LOM data.
  17. After the mainboard is replaced, the iBMC and BIOS settings are restored to the default settings of the new mainboard. Configure the iBMC and BIOS based on service requirements.

    • If you have iBMC and BIOS configuration files imported before the replacement of the mainboard, you can import the configuration files after the replacement. However, the exported configuration files do not contain password information. You need to manually configure the password for the iBMC user. For details, see iBMC WebUI > Configuration > Import/Export in FusionServer Pro X6000 Server iBMC User Guide.
    • The iBMC and BIOS configuration files exported from the iBMC contain the configuration list. For details, see "Configuration File Description" in FusionServer Pro X6000 Server iBMC User Guide.
    • The iBMC supports import and export of configuration files from version 2.32.
    • If the iBMC/BIOS configuration files are not imported before you replace the mainboard, manually configure the iBMC and BIOS data after the replacement.

  18. Upgrade the iBMC, BIOS, and CPLD to the versions used before the replacement (recommended) or to the latest versions.
