Managing Web Users

Managing Web Users

On the endpoint web interface, you can manage Debug and Normal users and change the passwords of web management, common user, and API accounts.

Context

The endpoint web interface supports two types of users: administrators and common users.

  • Administrators: Administrators have all permissions on the web interface.
NOTE:

Administrators can enable or disable the Debug and Normal users, modify accounts and passwords of common users, and perform system configuration operations.

  • Common users: They have some permissions on the web interface and can configure only personal settings but not system settings.

Logging In to the Web Interface

The endpoint supports logins in HTTP and HTTPS modes. HTTPS mode, which is more secure, is used by default. If you use HTTP to log in to the web interface of the endpoint, the system automatically switches to the HTTPS mode.

  1. Open a browser on the computer. In the address box, enter the IP address, such as https://192.168.1.1.

Before logging in to the web interface of the endpoint, you must configure the browser. For details, see Configuring the Browser.

  2. Press Enter.

The login page is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-1.

    NOTE:

If the security certificate is invalid, click Continue to this website to resume the login.

  3. Enter the user name and password. Select a language.
  4. Click Log In or press Enter.

    NOTE:

To ensure data security, after using the web interface, close the browser and delete browser caches.

Managing the Debug and Normal Users

On the web interface, administrators can enable or disable the status of the Debug and Normal users, and can change names and passwords.

  1. Choose System Settings > General > Personal.
  2. Enable or disable Synchronize Account and Password.

    • If you enable Synchronize Account and Password, the password of the SSH and Telnet login account debug is changed accordingly when you change the password of a Debug user, and vice versa.

The Debug user name is debug by default, and the Normal user name is user by default. Neither can be changed.

    • If you disable Synchronize Account and Password, the password of the SSH and Telnet login account debug is not changed accordingly when you change the password of a Debug user, and vice versa.
    • To ensure account security, you are advised to change the password at the first login and regularly change the password afterward.

  3. Click Save.

Changing the Password

On the web interface, you can change the passwords for the web management, common user, and API accounts as follows:

  1. Choose System Settings > General > Personal.
  2. Change the account password.

    • The password can contain 8 to 32 characters and must include at least two of the following: uppercase letter, lowercase letter, digit, and special character.
    • If you enable Synchronize Account and Password, the password of the SSH and Telnet login account debug is changed accordingly when you change the password of a debug user, and vice versa.
    • If you disable Synchronize Account and Password, the password of the SSH and Telnet login account debug is not changed accordingly when you change the password of a debug user, and vice versa.

  3. Click Save.
