Assembling a JG Terminal with a Power Cable

For PGND cables and power cables connected between cabinets and the power system, cut a proper length of cables based on site requirements and crimp JG terminals to these cables.


  • The cable jacket or insulation layer has no filth, bumps, dents, damage, or unrecoverable scratches.
  • The connector has no obvious damage, cracks, corrosion, or rust.
  • A cable of a proper length has been obtained.
  • Requisite installation tools and materials are as follows:
    • Crimping tool
    • Cable cutter
    • Gloves
    • Heat gun
    • Wire stripper
    • Handsaw


Figure 15-166 shows the components of a JG terminal and a power cable.

  1. Watch the cross-sectional area of the cable conductor and strip part of the insulation layer C to expose a length L of the cable conductor D, as shown in Figure 15-167.

    • When stripping the insulation layer, do not damage the cable conductor inside.
    • If the terminal is not provided by Huawei, adjust L of the JG terminal based on site situation.

    Table 15-75 lists recommended values for L.

  2. Insert the cable into the heat shrinking tubing B, as shown in Figure 15-168.
  3. Put the JG terminal A onto the exposed conductor, and ensure that the JG terminal contacts the insulation layer, as shown in Figure 15-168.

  4. Crimp the JG terminal tail with the cable conductor using the crimping tool, as shown in Figure 15-169.

  5. Blow the heat shrink tubing.
    1. Push the heat shrink tubing B towards the connector until covering the part where the JG terminal and cable conductor are crimped.
    2. Turn off the heat gun if the heat shrink tubing has contacted the connector. Otherwise, the insulation layer is to be burned.

      Use the heat gun to blow the heat shrink tubing until it tightly wraps the connector, as shown in Figure 15-170.
