(Optional) Installing a P25E/P12E Node (On Static Guide Rails)

(Optional) Installing a P25E/P12E Node (On Static Guide Rails)

Installing a P25E/P12E node into the cabinet includes sliding the P25E/P12E node into the cabinet, fastening the P25E/P12E node, and checking the installation result.

Prerequisites

  • Operations described in Installing a Cabinet or Checking a Third-Party Cabinet have been completed.
  • Guide rails have been installed.
  • All required tools have been prepared, containing M3 to M6 Phillips screwdrivers, M6 screws, and protective gloves.
  • Ensure that the CPU, DIMM, riser card, the PCIe card on the riser card, and the PCIe card of the node are installed. If any of the parts is not installed, see section "Replacing Components for a P25E or P12E Node" in Parts Replacement to install it.

Context

  • A P25E/P12E that is in the maximum configuration weighs up to 30 kg. Arrange for at least two persons to carry it and ensure that they wear protective gloves to avoid personal injury.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.

Procedure

  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.
  2. Install a P25E/P12E node on static guide rails.
    1. At least two people are required to lift the P25E/P12E and move it to the cabinet.
    2. Place the P25E/P12E onto the guide rails and slide it into the cabinet. See step (1) in Figure 8-34.

Figure 8-34  Installing a P25E/P12E (using P12E as an example)

    3. When the two mounting ears of the P25E/P12E come into contact the mounting bars on the cabinet, tighten the captive screws on the mounting ears to secure the P25E/P12E. See step (2) in Figure 8-34.
  3. Optional: Install disks (using P12E as an example).

    1. Fully raise the ejector lever and push the disk into the chassis along the guide rails until it does not move. See step 1 in Figure 8-35.

To ensure favorable heat dissipation, insert disks in the sequence of disk slot IDs. If the disk module or PCIe module is not fully configured, cover filler panels over vacant disk slots or PCIe slots.

      Figure 8-35  Installing a disk

The disk slots of P12E are numbered from 0 to 11 from top to bottom and from left to right, as shown in Figure 8-36.

    2. Ensure that the ejector lever is fastened to the chassis beam, and lower the ejector lever to completely insert the disk into the chassis. See step 2 in Figure 8-35.
