Installing a C36E Node

Installing a C36E Node

Installing a C36E node into the cabinet includes sliding the C36E node into the cabinet, fastening the C36E node, and checking the installation result.

  • Operations described in Installing a Cabinet or Checking a Third-Party Cabinet have been completed.
  • Holding rails have been installed.
  • All required tools have been prepared, containing M3 to M6 Phillips screwdrivers, M6 screws, and protective gloves.
  • Ensure that the CPU, DIMM, riser card, the PCIe card on the riser card, and the PCIe card of the node are installed. If any of the parts is not installed, see section "Replacing Components for a P36E or C36E Node" in Parts Replacement to install it.

  • A C36E that is in the maximum configuration weighs up to 57 kg. Arrange for at least four persons to carry it and ensure that they wear protective gloves to avoid personal injury.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.

  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.
  2. Install a C36E.
    1. Pull out an inner rail from a holding rail until the inner rail cannot move, push the release button upward, and remove the inner rail from the holding rail, as shown in steps 1 and 2 in Figure 8-45.

    2. Align the securing holes in the inner rails with the positioning pins on the C36E, and secure the inner rails to the C36E, as shown in Figure 8-46.

    3. Arrange for at least four persons to lift the C36E, align the inner rails on the C36E with the holding rails, and push the C36E into the holding rails, as shown Figure 8-47.

    4. Press the release buttons on both sides, and push the C36E into the cabinet until the C36E cannot move forward, as shown in Figure 8-48.

    5. Tighten the two captive screws on the mounting ears to secure the C36E, as shown in Figure 8-49.

  3. Optional: Install disks.

    1. Fully raise the ejector lever and push the disk into the chassis along the guide rails until it does not move. See step 1 in Figure 8-50.

To ensure favorable heat dissipation, insert disks in the sequence of disk slot IDs. If the disk module or PCIe module is not fully configured, cover filler panels over vacant disk slots or PCIe slots.

The disk slots of C36E front panel are numbered from 0 to 23 from top to bottom and from left to right, as shown in Figure 8-51.

The disk slots of C36E rear panel are numbered from 24 to 35 from top to bottom and from left to right, as shown in Figure 8-52.

    2. Ensure that the ejector lever is fastened to the chassis beam, and lower the ejector lever to completely insert the disk into the chassis. See step 2 in Figure 8-50.
