Installing an SMS Modem

Installing an SMS Modem

After an SMS modem is installed and configured and the SMS notification is enabled, alarm information will be sent to maintenance personnel by SMS so that they can better understand the network status in real time.

  • The external power supply has been prepared.
  • The subscriber identity module (SIM) card required for the modem is available.
  • Before installing the SMS modem, ensure that its baud rate has been set to 9600 or 115,200.

An SMS modem is a small, light, and third-party-supplied device and uses a dedicated 220 V AC to 12 V AC power adapter.

OceanStor 9000 is configured with three SMS modems, which are separately connected to storage nodes 1 to 3 (numbered bottom-up) in the basic cabinet. The SMS modem is secured to the remaining space close to the corresponding storage node in the basic cabinet.

  1. Insert the SIM card into the SMS modem.
  2. Secure the SMS modem to the remaining space close to the corresponding storage node in the basic cabinet.

    • Ensure that the modem is firmly secured and does not affect the cabling of other devices and movement of the cabinet door.
