Checking Before Unpacking Goods

After a project starts, the project supervisor must unpack and check the devices with the customer representative together.

Prerequisites

  • The goods are delivered to the project field.
  • Both the project supervisor and customer representative are present.

Context

  • The Packing List is contained in a bag, which is then stuck onto the outside of the carton.
  • When the goods arrive on site, check them according to the Packing List.
  • If the Packing List states some deficient goods, notify the manufacturer local office for subsequent handling and sign the Packing List. If short, wrong, or excessive shipment of goods occurs or goods are damaged, the two parties must sign the Memo for Unpacking and Checking Goods and Packing List. Meanwhile, the project supervisor must fill out the Goods Problem Feedback Form, submit it to the manufacturer local office within three days, and maintain the goods (including internal and external packages) intact for future investigation.
  • If the goods are in good condition, the two parties sign the Packing List, and then the goods are handed over to the customer.

Procedure

  1. Check before unpacking the goods.

    After a project starts, the project supervisor should check the goods with the customer representatives before unpacking the goods. For details about the check method, see Table 5-1.

    The wooden crate surface is damaged in any forms, for example, scratched, cracked, or concave.

    The tongues or latches are properly locked, or the wooden crate is already open.

    The feet of the wooden crate are disconnected, improperly connected, or damaged.

    The wooden crate is dirty or soaked.

    The void label on the wooden crate is torn (ignoring minor wear), or the lead seal is open.

    Carton

    The carton surface is damaged in any forms, for example, scratched or cracked.

    The carton is dirty or soaked.

    The carton is distorted in any forms, for example, convex, concave, or creased, especially its 8 angles and 12 edges.

    The sealing adhesive tape is torn.

    The carton has void labels of two or more layers, and the void labels are torn.

    Stack board package

    The stacking cartons of the same specifications are distorted, convex, or concave.

    Packing straps are broken.

    The soleplate of the wooden crate is cracked, the feet of the wooden crate tilt obviously, or a wooden foot is absent.

    Paper edge protectors have squeezed the carton, and are dirty or damaged.

    Shipment label

    Characters on the shipment label are clear, and the shipment label curls up, falls off, or is smeared.

    Characters on monitoring labels (if any) are clear.

    Tilt indicator



    It is normal that the tilt indicator is in grey. When the tilt angle is greater than 80°, the tilt indicator is in red.



    It is normal that the blue powder is below the horizontal line. When the tilt angle is greater than 85°, the blue powder is above the horizontal line and enters the arrow area.



    It is normal that there are four balls on either side. When the tilt angle is greater than 85°, the number of balls on either side changes.

    Shockwatch label



    It is normal that the shockwatch label is in grey, and it is abnormal that the shockwatch label is in red.

    Others

    There are damaged packages that cause materials to be exposed.

  2. Based on the checking result, the following measures can be taken:

    • If the number of the goods is correct and the appearances of the packing boxes are intact, unpack to check the goods.
    • If the number of the goods is incorrect or the carton is severely damaged or soaked, do not open the carton and notify the manufacturer local office.
      To protect the device and find out the reasons, move the devices out of the unpacked packages and store them indoors properly. Take pictures of the device storage environment, rusty or eroded devices, packages, and packing materials, and archive the pictures. Store the unpacked packages and packing materials properly.
