Installing a P12E Node

Installing a P12E into the cabinet includes sliding the P12E into the cabinet, fastening the P12E, and checking the installation result.


  • Operations described in Installing a Cabinet or Checking a Third-Party Cabinet have been completed.
  • Holding rails have been installed.
  • All required tools have been prepared, containing M3 to M6 Phillips screwdrivers, M6 screws, and protective gloves.
  • Ensure that the CPU, DIMM, riser card, the PCIe card on the riser card, and the PCIe card of the node are installed. If any of the parts is not installed, see section "Replacing Components for a P12E or P25E" in Parts Replacement to install it.


  • A P12E that is in the maximum configuration weighs up to 30 kg. Arrange at least two persons to carry it and ensure that they wear protective gloves to avoid personal injury.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.


  1. Install a P12E.
    1. Pull out the inner rail as shown in Figure 8-26.

    2. Align the securing holes in the inner rails with the positioning pins on the P12E, and secure the inner rails to the P12E, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-27.
    3. Arrange at least two persons to lift the P12E, align the inner rails with the holding rails, and push the P12E into the holding rails, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-27.

  2. Optional: Install hard disks.

    1. Fully raise the ejector lever and push the hard disk into the chassis along the guide rails until it does not move. See step 1 in Figure 8-28.

      To ensure favorable heat dissipation, insert disks in the sequence of disk slot IDs. If the disk module or PCIe module is not fully configured, cover filler panels over vacant disk slots or PCIe slots.

      The disk slots of P12E are numbered from 0 to 11 from top to bottom and from left to right, as shown in Figure 8-29.

    2. Ensure that the ejector lever is fastened to the chassis beam, and lower the ejector lever to completely insert the hard disk into the chassis. See step 2 in Figure 8-28.
