Installing a P36 Node

Installing a P36 Node

Install a P36 node into the cabinet. If disks are not installed in the P36 node, insert disks into the P36 node.


  • Operations described in Installing a Cabinet or Checking a Third-Party Cabinet have been completed.
  • Guide rails and floating nuts have been installed.
  • All required tools have been prepared, containing M3 to M6 Phillips screwdrivers, M6 screws, and protective gloves.


  • A fully configured P36 node weighs up to 70 kg. Therefore, arrange for at least four persons to carry it and ensure that they wear protective gloves to avoid personal injury.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.


  1. Install the P36 node into the cabinet.
    1. Wear the protective gloves.
    2. Slide the P36 node along the guide rail into the cabinet.
    3. Insert the screw into the floating nut through the screw hole on the P36 node and fasten the screw, as shown in Figure 8-63.

    4. Ensure that the P36 node sits properly and all bolts are fastened.


    If disks have not been installed into the storage nodes, install the disks after installing the storage nodes. If disks have been installed into the storage nodes, skip step 2.

  2. Optional: Install service disks.

    One SSD and 35 SATA disks are configured for the P36 node. The SSD is installed in slot 0 in the upper left corner of the front panel.

    1. Wear ESD gloves.
    2. Take the disks to be installed out of the ESD bag.
    3. Raise the handle of the disk completely and push the disk straight into the slot with an appropriate amount of force, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-64.

      • If the handle of the disk is not fully open, the disk cannot be completely inserted into the slot.
      • Excessive force may damage the disk connector.
      • To ensure favorable heat dissipation, insert disks in the sequence of disk slot IDs. If the disk module or PCIe module is not fully configured, cover filler panels over vacant disk slots or PCIe slots.

      The disk slots on the front panel of a P36 are numbered from 0 to 23 from left to right and from top to bottom, as shown in Figure 8-65.

      The disk slots on the rear panel of a P36 are numbered from 24 to 35 from left to right and from top to bottom, as shown in Figure 8-66.

    4. Close the handle, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-64.
