Installing a C72 Node into a Cabinet

Installing a C72 Node into a Cabinet

Installing a C72 node into the cabinet includes sliding the C72 node into the cabinet, fastening the C72, and checking the installation result.

Prerequisites

Ensure that the following conditions are met before installing a C72 node:
  • The installation environment meets requirements.
  • Ensure that ball bearing guide rails used for sliding the C72 node into cabinets are installed. If ball bearing guide rails for the C72 node are not installed, see section Installing Ball Bearing Guide Rails to install ball bearing guide rails.
Ensure that the following tools and materials are ready:
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • M6 screw
  • M4 screw
  • M3 screw
  • Protective gloves
  • C72

Precautions

  • To prevent personal injury and device damage, arrange for at least three persons to carry and install the unloaded C72 enclosure into the cabinet and install disks modules into the enclosure.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.

Procedure

  1. Wear protective gloves.
  2. Install the inner rail to the right of the C72 node.
    1. Install the inner rail onto the system enclosure, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-71.

Figure 8-71  Install the inner rail

    2. Use two M4 screws to secure the inner rail, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-71.
  3. Install the inner rail to the left of the C72 node.

Repeat 2 to install the left inner rail.

  4. Remove the two M3 screws from the upper panel, as shown in Figure 8-72.

  5. Place the side step in the rear of the C72 node on the front bracket of the ball bearing guide rails, and slide the disk enclosure into the cabinet along the ball bearing guide rails (no manual alignment is required because the inner rail automatically connects to the middle rail), as shown in Figure 8-73.

    • Do not pull out the middle guide rails when sliding the C72 node into the cabinet. Otherwise, the guide rails may be warped.
    • Before you install disk modules, install the C72 node into the cabinet.

  6. Check the C72 installation.

    • After sliding the C72 node into the cabinet, pull out the C72 node from the cabinet and slide the C72 node into the cabinet for two times respectively to check that the ball bearing guide rails are correctly installed.
    • If you cannot push or pull out a C72 smoothly, check whether inner rails are fully inserted into middle rails. If the inner rails are not fully inserted into middle rails, disassemble the C72 node and check whether ball bearing guide rails meet the following conditions according to Installing Ball Bearing Guide Rails:
      • Check whether ball bearing guide rails are installed horizontally (whether front and back brackets of ball bearing guide rails are on the same level).
      • Check whether the installation templates of ball bearing guide rails can be inserted.
      • Check whether the ball of the ball bearing guide rail is placed at the most front end of the middle rail.
      • Check whether the middle rails of ball bearing guide rails are completed inserted.

  7. Install a cover.
    1. Pull out the enclosure slowly, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-74.
    2. Push the upper cover backward until the upper cover touches the mounting bars, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-74.
    3. Fasten the two captive screws on the cover, as shown in step 3 in Figure 8-74.

  8. Install the system enclosure.
    1. Slide the enclosure into the cabinet slowly, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-75.
    2. Fasten the two captive screws on the front panel, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-75.

  9. Repeat 5 to 8 to install other C72 nodes into the cabinet.
