Installing a P12 Node

Installing a P12 Node

Installing a P12 node into the cabinet includes sliding the P12 node into the cabinet, fastening the P12 node, and checking the installation result.

Prerequisites

  • Operations described in Installing a Cabinet or Checking a Third-Party Cabinet have been completed.
  • Guide rails have been installed.
  • All required tools have been prepared, containing M3 to M6 Phillips screwdrivers, M6 screws, and protective gloves.

Context

  • A fully configured P12 node weighs up to 32 kg. Therefore, arrange for at least two persons to carry it and ensure that they wear protective gloves to avoid personal injury.
  • Install components into a cabinet from bottom to top to prevent the cabinet from falling over.

Procedure

  1. Install the P12 node into the cabinet.
    1. Wear the protective gloves.
    2. Slide the P12 node along the guide rail into the cabinet, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-57.
    3. Insert the screw into the floating nut through the screw hole on the P12 node and fasten the screw, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-57.
    4. Fasten all the screws with a Phillips screw driver.
    5. Ensure that the P12 node sits properly and all bolts are fastened.

    NOTE:

If disks have not been installed into the storage nodes, install the disks after installing the storage nodes. If disks have been installed into the storage nodes, skip step 2.

  2. Optional: Install service disks.

Configure one SSD and 11 SATA disks or 12 SATA disks for the P12 node. Insert the SSD into slot 0 of the front panel.

    1. Wear ESD gloves.
    2. Take the disks to be inserted out of the ESD bag.
    3. Raise the handle of the disk completely and push the disk straight into the slot with an appropriate amount of force, as shown in step 1 in Figure 8-58.

      • If the handle of the disk is not fully open, the disk cannot be completely inserted into the slot.
      • Excessive force may damage the disk connector.
      • To ensure favorable heat dissipation, insert disks in the sequence of disk slot IDs. If the disk module or PCIe module is not fully configured, cover filler panels over vacant disk slots or PCIe slots.

The disk slots of P12 are numbered from 0 to 11 from left to right and from top to bottom, as shown in Figure 8-59.

    4. Close the handle, as shown in step 2 in Figure 8-58.
