P12

This section describes the function, exterior, ports, indicators, physical structure, and technical specifications of a P12 node.

Function

A P12 node is a high-performance storage node applicable to OPS-intensive applications, equipped with 12 front service disk slots and 2 rear 2.5-inch system disk slots.

PCIe expansion slots of a P12 node can house 2-port GE network adapters and 2-port IB network adapters. Each 2-port GE network adapter provides two GE network ports, as shown in Figure 15-79.

Each 2-port IB network adapter provides two 40 QSFP+ Ethernet optical ports, as shown in Figure 15-80.

The rear panel of a P12 node has two system disk slots, numbered as SYSTEMDISK0 (left) and SYSTEMDISK1 (right). Figure 15-81 shows disk slots on the rear panel of a P12 node with a SAS HBA and 2-port INTEL 10GE network adapter.

Ports

Table 15-21 describes ports provided by a P12 node.

GE network port

If the front-end and rear-end devices are networked using GE switches, GE ports are used to connect those devices to the GE switches.

  • The mainboard externally provides two GE network ports.
  • Each node can be configured with two 2-port network adapters, each of which externally provides two GE network ports.

IPMI

Provides the Web UI for the management and maintenance of the server.

USB port

Connects the mouse, keyboard, and other USB devices.

Serial port

Extends functions of the operating system and third-party software.

VGA port

Connects monitors.

10GE SFP+ Ethernet optical port

When OceanStor 9000 is networked using 10GE switches, each node is configured with 2-port INTEL 10GE network adapters, each of which provides two 10GE small form-factor pluggable plus (SFP+) Ethernet optical ports to connect to the 10GE switches.

40GE QSFP+ Ethernet optical port

When OceanStor 9000 is networked using InfiniBand (IB) switches, each node is configured with 2-port IB network adapters, each of which provides two 40GE quad small-factor pluggable plus (QSFP+) to connect to the IB switches.

Indicators

Indicators provided by a P12 node are described in Table 15-22. Indicators show the current working status of a P12 node.
