Removing the Supercapacitor
Procedure
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the power cables from the PSUs.
For details, see Removing PSU Cables.
- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing a 2488H V5.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Determine the position of the supercapacitor.
- If the server is configured with two processors, the supercapacitor can be installed on the air duct or mainboard.
- If the server is configured with four processors, install the supercapacitor on the mainboard or the side wall of the PSU.Figure 8-64 Positions of the supercapacitors (two processors)Figure 8-65 Positions of the supercapacitors (four processors)
- Check whether the supercapacitor is configured with a TFM.
- Remove the TFM.
- Remove the PCIe RAID controller card.
For details, see Removing the Screw-in RAID Controller Card.
- Unscrew the TFM on the PCIe RAID controller card. See (1) in Figure 8-66.
- Remove the TFM from the RAID controller card. See (2) in Figure 8-66.
- Go to 10.
- Remove the PCIe RAID controller card.
- Remove the cable between the supercapacitor and the RAID controller card.Figure 8-67 Removing a cable from the PCIe RAID controller card with two mini-SAS ports (example)
- Remove the supercapacitor and its holder.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the air duct
- Press the latch and remove the supercapacitor and its holder from the air duct.Figure 8-68 Removing a supercapacitor holder from the air duct
- Open the plastic buckles that secure the supercapacitor. See (1) in Figure 8-69.
- Exert even force to lift the supercapacitor out of the holder. See (2) in Figure 8-69.
- Press the latch and remove the supercapacitor and its holder from the air duct.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the side wall of the PSU
- Lift the supercapacitor holder as far as it will go, and pull out the supercapacitor holder.Figure 8-70 Removing a supercapacitor holder from the PSU
- Open the plastic buckles that secure the supercapacitor. See (1) in Figure 8-71.
- Exert even force to lift the supercapacitor out of the holder. See (2) in Figure 8-71.
- Lift the supercapacitor holder as far as it will go, and pull out the supercapacitor holder.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the mainboard
- Open the plastic buckles that secure the supercapacitor. See (1) in Figure 8-72.
- Exert even force to lift the supercapacitor out of the holder. See (2) in Figure 8-72.
- Loosen the screws that secure the supercapacitor holder. See (1) in Figure 8-73.
- Lift the supercapacitor holder. See (2) in Figure 8-73.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the air duct
- Place the removed component in an ESD bag.
Place only one component in an ESD bag.
