Installing the Supercapacitor
Procedure
- Power off the server.
For details, see Power-Off Procedure.
- Remove the power cables from the PSUs.
For details, see Removing PSU Cables.
- Remove the server.
For details, see Removing a 2488H V5.
- Place the server on the ESD workstation.
- Remove the chassis cover.
For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
- Take the component out of its ESD bag.
- Determine the position of the supercapacitor.
- If the server is configured with two processors, install the supercapacitor on the air duct or mainboard.Figure 8-74 Positions of the supercapacitors (two processors)
- If the server is configured with four processors, install the supercapacitor on the mainboard or the side wall of the PSU.Figure 8-75 Positions of the supercapacitors (four processors)
- If the server is configured with two processors, install the supercapacitor on the air duct or mainboard.
- Install the supercapacitor and its holder.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the air duct
- Insert the supercapacitor into the holder until the supercapacitor is locked.Figure 8-76 Installing a supercapacitor
- secure the supercapacitor and its holder to the air duct.Figure 8-77 Installing a supercapacitor holder on the air duct
- Insert the supercapacitor into the holder until the supercapacitor is locked.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the side wall of the PSU

- hitch the supercapacitor holder, and move it downwards as far as it will go.Figure 8-79 Installing a supercapacitor holder on the PSU
- Insert the supercapacitor into the holder until the supercapacitor is locked.
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the mainboard
- Place the supercapacitor holder vertically on the mainboard. See (1) in Figure 8-80.
- Align the screws of the supercapacitor holder with the screw holes on the mainboard, and tighten the screws. See (2) in Figure 8-80.
- Insert the supercapacitor into the holder until the supercapacitor is locked.Figure 8-81 Installing a supercapacitor
- If the supercapacitor is installed on the air duct
- Check whether the supercapacitor is configured with a TFM.
- Install the TFM.
- Remove the PCIe RAID controller card.
For details, see Removing the PCIe RAID Controller Card.
- Insert the TFM into the PCIe RAID controller card. See (1) in Figure 8-82.
- Tighten the screws to secure the TFM. See (2) in Figure 8-82.
- Install the PCIe RAID controller card.
For details, see Installing the PCIe RAID Controller Card.
- Go to 12.
- Remove the PCIe RAID controller card.
- Connect the cable between the supercapacitor and the PCIe RAID controller card.Figure 8-83 Connecting a cable to the PCIe RAID controller card with two mini-SAS ports (example)
- Install the chassis cover.
For details, see Installing the Chassis Cover.
- Install the server.
For details, see Installing a 2488H V5.
- Connect the power cables to the PSUs.
For details, see Connecting PSU Cables.
- Power on the server.
For details, see Power-On Procedure.
- Log in to the iBMC WebUI, and check whether the new component is normal.
For details, see FusionServer Pro Rack Server iBMC User Guide.
