Configuring the Card Forwarding Resource Mode



Only the CE12800E series switches support the configuration of the card forwarding resource mode.

Services share chip entry resources. When ARP, MAC, or routing entries cannot meet service requirements, change the system resource mode to obtain a larger entry capacity.
  • large-mac: increases the MAC entry capacity. The large-mac mode is applicable to Layer 2 access and transparent transmission scenarios, where a device mainly forwards Layer 2 unicast packets as well as broadcast, unknown unicast, and multicast (BUM) packets. This mode provides a larger MAC entry space and is often used at the access or aggregation layer (with the gateway deployed at the core layer).

  • large-route: increases the routing entry capacity. The large-route mode is applicable to the core layer of a Layer 3 network and enables a device to learn a large number of network segment routes for Layer 3 forwarding.

  • standard: This is the default mode.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. (Optional) Run display system resource

    The current card forwarding resource mode is displayed.

  3. Run system resource { standard | large-mac | large-route }

    The card forwarding resource mode is configured.

    By default, the card forwarding resource mode is standard. After changing the card forwarding resource mode, restart the device for the modification to take effect.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

  5. Run quit

    Exit from the system view.

  6. Run reboot

    The device is restarted to make the configuration take effect.
