Configuring the Extended Layer 3 Forwarding Resource Mode for a Card (CE12800)

Configuring the Extended Layer 3 Forwarding Resource Mode for a Card (CE12800)

Context

By default, the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of cards is all-ipv4 mode, 1M IPv4 FIB entries are available, and error checking and correction (ECC) will be performed through hardware. To increase the FIB entry specifications, run the assign forward command to set the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode to no-ecc mode. Subsequently, 2M IPv4 FIB entries are available. If you set the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode to ipv4-ipv6 mode, 256K IPv4 FIB entries and 256K IPv6 FIB entries are available. If you set the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode to no-ecc or ipv4-ipv6 mode, ECC will be performed through software.

NOTE:
  • Only CE-L12CF-EG and CE-L36LQ-EG cards support the configuration.

  • Only CE-L36LQ-EG cards support the ipv4-ipv6 mode.

  • If the FPGA mode of a card has been set to no-ecc mode, ports on the card cannot be assigned to two or more VSs in group mode. If ports on a card have been assigned to two or more VSs in group mode, the FPGA mode of this card cannot be set to no-ecc mode.

Procedure

  1. (Optional) Run the display forward no-ecc [ slot slot-id ] command to check the current extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of a specified card.
  2. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  3. Run the assign forward { no-ecc | ecc ipv4-ipv6 } slot slot-id command to configure the extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode of a specified card.

By default, no extended Layer 3 forwarding resource mode is configured for cards.

    NOTE:

This command takes effect after cards are restarted.

  4. Run the commit command to commit the configuration.
  5. Run the quit command to exit from the system view.
  6. Run the reset slot slot-id command to restart the card to make the configuration take effect.
