Configuring Traffic Statistics Collection on a Layer 3 Sub-interface

Configuring Traffic Statistics Collection on a Layer 3 Sub-interface

Context

To check the network status or locate network faults, you can enable traffic statistics collection on Layer 3 sub-interfaces of the CloudEngine 12800 and 12800E series switches and collect traffic statistics on the Layer 3 sub-interfaces. By default, traffic statistics on Layer 3 sub-interfaces contain bytes in the interframe gap (IFG) and preamble.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number.subinterface-number

The Layer 3 sub-interface view is displayed.

  3. (Optional) Run ipv6 enable

The IPv6 function is enabled on the interface.

By default, the IPv6 function is disabled on an interface.

Before enabling IPv6 packet statistics collection on a Layer 3 sub-interface, enable the IPv6 function on the interface.

  4. Enable traffic statistics collection on a Layer 3 sub-interface.

    • For the CE12800E equipped with the ED-E/EG-E/EGA-E card, run the statistics enable command.

    • For CE12800 series switches, run the statistics [ ipv6 ] enable [ inbound | outbound ] command.

By default, traffic statistics collection is disabled on a Layer 3 sub-interface.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
