(Optional) Configuring BFD for VXLAN

(Optional) Configuring BFD for VXLAN

To implement protection switching of VXLAN tunnels, configure BFD to monitor VXLAN tunnel connectivity.

BFD for VXLAN is typically used when VMware devices need to communicate with VXLAN gateways, as shown in Figure 8-10. To implement the communication and allow BFD to take effect, VXLAN tunnels must be established between Device3 and the replicator cluster, and BFD must be deployed for these VXLAN tunnels. The following configurations are recommended on Device3.

Before performing the following configurations, ensure that VXLAN tunnels in centralized replication mode have been established between Device3 and other devices.

Figure 8-10 BFD for VXLAN

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run bfd

    BFD is globally enabled.

By default, the globally BFD is disabled.

  3. Run quit

    Return to the system view.

  4. Run bfd session-name bind vxlan peer-ip peer-ip-address source-ip source-ip-address peer-mac peer-mac-address auto

BFD for VXLAN session binding information is created, and the BFD session view is displayed.

By default, there is no BFD for VXLAN session.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
