Example for Configuring an FCF (FC Interfaces)

Example for Configuring an FCF (FC Interfaces)

Networking Requirements

Two areas are partitioned on the storage device Array: LUN0 and LUN1. ServerA access different areas as needed. FCF functions as the access switch and connects the storage device Array through its uplink interfaces, and directly connects to ServerA through its downlink interface, as shown in Figure 2-35. ServerA connects to FCFA and FCFB to constitute dual-plane networking, ensuring network reliability.

Figure 2-35 FCF networking
NOTE:
  • The device supports a maximum of 512 FCoE interfaces.

  • The CE7855EI, CE7850EI, CE6850HI, CE6856HI, CE6855HI, CE6851HI, and CE6850U-HI allow a maximum of 4096 VN_Ports to log in; the CE8860EI, CE8850EI, CE6860EI, and CE6850EI allow a maximum of 512 VN_Ports to log in; the CE6810EI allows a maximum of 256 VN_Ports to log in.

  • The device allows a maximum of 32 VN_Ports to be online concurrently in each zone.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Switch the physical interface to the FC interface.

  2. Configure a zone and a zone set and add ServerA and Array to the zone.

  3. Create a Fiber Channel (FC) instance, specify an FCoE VLAN and add the FC interface to the FC instance.

  4. Activate a zone set.

Data Preparation

Configure the physical connections and IP addresses according to the following table.

Procedure

  1. Configure FC interfaces.

    # Before configuring an FC interface, connect an FC optical module to the interface. If the LINK indicator is steady green, the interface is Up.

    # Switch 10GE1/0/1 and 10GE1/0/2 on FCFA to an FC interface.

    # After the FC interface is configured, check the FC interface status.

  2. Configure a zone and a zone set.

    # Create zone1 on FCFA and add ServerA and Array to zone1. You can add member nodes to a zone using the WWPN, WWNN, FC_ID, and FC/FCoE interface. The WWPN mode is recommended.
