Configuring an FC or FCoE Interface

Context

Layer 2 Ethernet interfaces can be switched to Fiber Channel (FC) interfaces. The default type of an FC interface is F_Port, and an FC interface can be configured as an NP_Port in an NPort Virtualization (NPV) instance. The NPV switch uses an F_Port to connect to an N_Port of an ENode and uses an NP_Port to connect to an F_Port of an FCoE forwarder (FCF). Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) supports the VF_Port and VNP_Port. The NPV switch uses a VF_Port to connect to a VN_Port of an ENode and uses a VNP_Port to connect to a VF_Port of an FCF.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring an FC interface, complete the following task:

  • Connect an FC optical module to the interface.
NOTE:

If the LINK indicator is steady green, the interface is Up.

Procedure

  • Configure an FC interface.

    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run port mode fc interface-type interface-number

      An Ethernet interface is switched to an FC interface.

      By default, no FC interface exists on the device.

    3. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

  • Configure an FCoE interface.

    1. Run system-view

      The system view is displayed.

    2. Run interface fcoe-port interface-number

      An FCoE interface is created and the FCoE interface view is displayed.

    3. Run quit

      Return to the system view.

    4. Run interface interface-type interface-number

      The view of a physical interface to be added to an FCoE interface is displayed.

    5. Run fcoe-port fcoe-port-id

      The physical interface is added to the FCoE interface.

      By default, an FCoE interface does not contain a physical interface.

    6. Run port link-type { trunk | hybrid }

      The link type of the interface is configured.

      By default, the link type of an interface is access.

    7. Run port trunk allow-pass vlan { { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] }&<1-10> | all }

      Or run port hybrid tagged vlan { { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] }&<1-10> | all }

      The interface is added to the FCoE VLAN.

      NOTE:

      The interface cannot be removed from VLAN 1.

    8. Run commit

      The configuration is committed.

Follow-up Procedure

Run the display interface fc command to check the FC interface status.
