Configuring TRILL Gateway

Context

It is costly and complex to deploy independent gateway devices as gateways on a TRILL network. You can deploy the TRILL gateway function to reduce deployment cost and complexity.
NOTE:
When configuring a TRILL gateway, pay attention to the following points:
  • In an SVF system of fixed switches, ports of leaf switches cannot be added to the internal loopback interfaces of the TRILL gateway.

  • The TRILL gateway in internal loopback mode cannot forward multicast traffic at Layer 3.

  • After the TRILL gateway function is configured, the administrative VLAN does not support data traffic transmission.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. (CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run interface eth-trunk trunk-id

    An Eth-Trunk is created and the Eth-Trunk interface view is displayed.

  3. (CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run trunkport interface-type { interface-number1 [ to interface-number2 ] } &<1-1632

    A member interface is added to the Eth-Trunk.

  4. (CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run service type trill unicast

    The Eth-Trunk interface is specified as the internal loopback interface for the TRILL gateway.

    NOTE:

    After you run the service type trill unicast command on an Eth-Trunk interface, the Eth-Trunk interface and its physical member interface can only be used for the TRILL gateway and cannot be configured with other services. Additionally, ensure that the Eth-Trunk interface can provide sufficient bandwidth to send TRILL packets to the gateway. For example, if traffic is sent from users to the gateway across the TRILL network at a rate of 10 Gbit/s, add a 10GE interface or ten GE interfaces to the Eth-Trunk interface that you want to use as the internal loopback interface.

  5. (CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run quit

    The system view is displayed.

  6. (CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run trill gateway enable bind interface eth-trunk trunk-id

    The TRILL gateway function in internal loopback mode is enabled

  7. (CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run trill gateway enable

    The TRILL gateway function in internal loopback mode is enabled

  8. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Checking the Configuration

(CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI) Run the display trill gateway interface command to check the loopback interface used for the TRILL gateway.
