(Optional) Setting the Interval for Sending FIP Keepalive Packets

(Optional) Setting the Interval for Sending FIP Keepalive Packets

Context

FIP Keepalive packets are used to detect the Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) virtual link status. If the switch used as the FCoE forwarder (FCF) or NPort Virtualization (NPV) device does not receive FIP Keepalive packets after the 2.5 times the interval, the switch considers that the virtual link fails and terminates the virtual link.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run fcoe fc-instance-name [ fc-instance-type ]

The FCF or NPV instance view is displayed.

  3. Run fip fka-adv-period interval_value

The interval at which FIP Keepalive packets are sent is set.

By default, the interval at which FIP Keepalive packets are sent is 8000 ms.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
