Overview of FC SAN

Overview of FC SAN

A storage area network (SAN) is a high-speed network that incorporates storage devices and network connection devices. The Fiber Channel (FC) protocol is a data transmission protocol used on a SAN, and an FC SAN is a SAN network that uses the FC protocol.

With increase of Internet applications, servers need to store more data, so there are increasing requirements for the storage capacity of servers. When the storage capacity of servers is insufficient to support increasing information, data needs to be saved in an external storage environment. SAN provides a specialized external storage environment for servers, allowing large-capacity and high-reliability data storage, access, and backup.

FC SAN can extend the external storage space of servers, make full usage of the storage space, and provide efficient installation and management.
