Configuring the Function of Sending ARP Packets at a Constant Speed

Configuring the Function of Sending ARP Packets at a Constant Speed

Background

The device does not send ARP aging probe packets and ARP Miss messages at a constant rate. If the rate of these packets exceeds the processing capability in milliseconds of the connected device, packet loss may occur and affect services. You can enable the function of sending ARP packets at a constant rate and change the packet sending rate based on live network requirements. This configuration ensures better communication between the local device and connected device.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run arp constant-send enable

The function of sending ARP packets at a constant rate is enabled.

By default, the device is not enabled to send ARP packets at a constant rate.

  3. Run arp constant-send maximum maximum-value

The constant rate at which ARP packets are sent is set.

By default, the device sends 5 packets per 10 ms. The default setting is recommended.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
