Feature Limitations

  • EFM cannot be configured on logical interfaces.

  • Two OAM entities that are both working in passive mode cannot establish an EFM connection between them.

  • The working mode of EFM can be set on an interface only after EFM has been enabled globally and before EFM is enabled on the interface. The working mode of EFM on an interface cannot be changed after EFM is enabled on the interface. To change the EFM working mode on an interface, first disable EFM on the interface.

  • The timeout interval is set only after EFM has been enabled globally but before EFM is enabled on an interface.

  • OAM entities that initiate a loopback request must work in active mode.

  • The device supports a maximum of 5 enabled devices in passive mode.

  • Only one interface on one device can send EFM packets at one time.

  • After the undo efm enable command is executed in the system view to disable EFM, all the EFM configuration is deleted. If remote loopback is performed on the device and many test packets are sent, running the undo efm enable command may cause test packets to be forwarded. As a result, network bandwidth will be occupied.

  • On a device except the CE6870EI and CE6875EI, heavy burst traffic causes EFM session flapping. EFM session flapping is eliminated after traffic becomes stable. You are advised to run the efm timeout command to increase the timeout interval of EFM packets.
