Creating a MEP

Creating a MEP

MEPs define the scope and edge of an MA. CFM supports Continuity Check (CC), Loopback (LB), and Linktrace (LT) functions on end-to-end links between MEPs.

MEPs are classified into the local MEP and RMEPs. MEPs are classified into inward- and outward-facing MEPs based on the MEP direction.

Perform the following operations on each edge device in an MA.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run cfm md md-name

    The MD view is displayed.

  3. Run ma ma-name

    The MA view is displayed.

  4. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number { outward | inward }

    A MEP is created.

    By default, no MEP is created on the device.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.

Follow-up Procedure

  • To create multiple MEPs in an MA, repeat step 4 and step 5.

  • To create MEPs in multiple MAs, repeat step 3 to step 5.

Do not configure level-0 MEPs on intermediate devices. To specify the level of a MEP, run the cfm md md-name [ level level ] command.
