Configuring BFD to Detect an Eth-Trunk in a VLAN

Pre-configuration Tasks

BFD for Perlink quickly detects and monitors an Eth-Trunk in a VLAN.

Before configuring BFD to detect an Eth-Trunk in a VLAN, complete the following tasks:

  • Configure an Eth-Trunk and ensure that its link layer protocol status is Up.

  • Add the Eth-Trunk to a VLAN.

  • Allocate an IP address to a VLANIF interface.

Configuration Process

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run bfd

    BFD is enabled globally and the BFD view is displayed.

    By default, BFD is disabled globally.

  3. Run quit

    Return to the system view.

  4. Run bfd session-name bind peer-ip ip-address [ vpn-instance vpn-name ] interface interface-type interface-number source-ip ip-address per-link one-arm-echo

    A BFD session for Perlink is created.

    • The local and remote BFD discriminators of BFD for Perlink do not need to be configured manually.
    • When using BFD for Perlink, ensure that URPF is disabled on the transmit end of BFD echo packets. Otherwise, the BFD echo function may become invalid.

  5. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
