Configuring Association Between CFM and an Interface

Context

A device carrying IP services is usually dual-homed to an IP network to improve network robustness and service reliability. In Figure 7-19, CE1 connects to CE2 and CE4 through the active and standby links. To detect link connectivity, you can configure CFM between CE1 and CE4. When CFM detects a link fault, association between CFM and Port1 can be enabled so that other modules can detect the fault and services can be rapidly switched.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring association between CFM with an interface, perform the operation of Configuring CC.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number

    The view of the interface at one end of the link is displayed.

  3. Run the following commands as required.

    • Run cfm md md-name ma ma-name remote-mep mep-id mep-id trigger if-down

      Association between CFM and an interface is configured and the MEP is configured to shut down and start the associated interface when detecting a fault.

      By default, association between CFM and an interface is not configured.

      If a MEP detects a connectivity fault between the MEP and a specified RMEP within the same MA, the MEP shuts down and then starts the associated interface after 7s.

    • Run cfm md md-name ma ma-name remote-mep mep-id mep-id trigger if-link-down

      Association between CFM and an interface is configured and the MEP is configured to shut down the associated interface when detecting a fault.

      By default, association between CFM and an interface is not configured.

      When the MEP in the specified MA detects a fault between itself and the RMEP, the MEP shuts down the associated interface.

      You can run the cfm trigger if-link-down command to associate CFM with an Eth-trunk member link.
      • When CFM detects a connectivity fault, the associated member link goes Down, service traffic except CFM traffic is blocked, and services on the faulty member link are switched to other member links.
      • When CFM detects that the faulty member link recovers, services are switched back to the member link.
    NOTE:

    The cfm trigger if-link-down and cfm trigger if-down commands are cannot be configured in the same interface view.

  4. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
