Disabling the fstrim.timer and fstrim.service Services

NOTE:

This chapter applies only to SLES 12 SP2/SLES 12 SP3. For other OS versions, skip this chapter.

  1. Stop the fstrim.timer service.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl stop fstrim.timer

  2. Disable the automatic startup of the fstrim.timer service upon system startup.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl disable fstrim.timer

  3. Stop the fstrim.service service.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl stop fstrim.service

  4. Disable the automatic startup of the fstrim.service service upon system startup.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl disable fstrim.service

  5. Run the following command to check the status of the fstrim.timer service, and ensure that the Active is inactive (dead).

    hw00001:~ # systemctl status fstrim.timer

  6. Run the following command to check the status of the fstrim.service service, and ensure that the Active is inactive (dead).

    hw00001:~ # systemctl status fstrim.service

  7. Run the following command to check the automatic startup of the fstrim.timer service upon system startup, and ensure that the Loaded is disabled.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl list-unit-files | grep fstrim.timer

  8. Run the following command to check the automatic startup of the fstrim.service service upon system startup, and ensure that the Loaded is static.

    hw00001:~ # systemctl list-unit-files | grep fstrim.service
