Configuring the kdump File

  1. Run the cd /etc/sysconfig command to go to the /etc/sysconfig directory.

    # cd /etc/sysconfig

  2. Modify the kdump file and change the value of the KDUMP_CPUS value from 1 to the number of current CPU cores. For example, if the number of current CPU cores is 18, change the value of KDUMP_CPUS to 18.

    # vi kdump

  1. Press Esc and run :wq to save the configuration and exit.
  2. Restart the server for the configuration to take effect.


    After you configure the kdump service, you need to restart the server for the configuration to take effect. To avoid repeatedly restarting the server, it is recommended that you restart the server after you complete all configurations in this chapter.
