Installing the SLES

Installing the SLES

  1. Start the BIOS and go to the BIOS Setup Utility screen (the default BIOS password is Huawei12#$)
  2. Select Save&Exit, select UEFI: Virtual DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0 225 as the first boot option, and press Enter.

  3. In the initial installation window, select SLES for SAP Applications - Installation.

  4. Press e and add nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcutree.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 to the end of the Linuxefi line.

  5. Press F10. The OS installation starts.

  6. Select I Agree to the License Terms and click Next.

  7. Click Skip Registration. In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK. Then click Next.

  8. Select SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications and click Next.

  9. On the Add On Product page, click Next.

  10. Click Experts Partitioner.

  11. Choose Hard Disks > sda and click Add.

  12. Select Custom Size, set Size to 1GiB, and click Next.

  13. Select EFI Boot Partition and click Next.

  14. Click Finish.

  15. Click Add.

  16. Select Maximum Size under New Partition Size and click Next.

  17. Set Role to Operating System and click Next.

  18. Choose Do not format partition, set File system ID to 0x8E Linux LVM, and click Finish.

  19. In the System View area on the left, select Volume Management, click Add, and select Volume Group.

  20. Enter a name (for example, vg_os) in Volume Group Name, select /dev/sda2 from Available Physical Volumes on the left, click Add, and click Finish.

  21. In the System View area on the left, select the created vg_os volume group and click Add.

  22. Enter swap in the Logical Volume text box and click Next.

  23. Select Custom Size, set Size to 20GiB, and click Next.

  24. Set Role to Swap and click Next.

  25. Click Finish.

  26. Click Add.

  27. Enter usr_sap in the Logical Volume text box and click Next.

  28. Select Custom Size, set Size to 200.00 GiB, and click Next.

  29. Select Operating System and click Next.

  30. Choose Format partition and set File System to Ext4. Choose Mount partition, set Mount Point to /usr/sap, and click Next.

  31. Click Add.

  32. Enter root in the Logical Volume text box and click Next.

  33. Select Maximum Size and click Next.

  34. Select Operating System and click Next.

  35. Choose Format partition and set File System to Ext4. Choose Mount partition, set Mount Point to /, and click Finish.

  36. Repeat step 19 to step 35 to create the /dev/sdb partition. During partition creation, set Role to Data and ISV Applications and click Next.

    For details about the size of the /dev/sdb partition, see Solution Overview. The sizes of the partitions used in this step are as follows:

  37. Click Accept.

  38. Click Next.

  39. Select a time zone as required, and click Next.

  40. Set a password for the root user, and click Next.

  41. Click Software.

  42. Select SAP HANA Server Base and click OK.

  43. Click disable next to Firewall will be enabled (disable changes to enable after the click). Then click Install.

    After you click disable, the text "disable" changes to enable.

  44. Click Install.

    After you click Install, the following dialog box is displayed, and you need to click Install.

    The OS installation starts.

    The system automatically restarts when the installation is complete. After the system is restarted, the login window is displayed.
