Configuring IP Addresses

NOTE:

For two-node HA or cluster networking, see the corresponding installation guide to configure IP addresses.

Configuring the IP Address for the OS Management Port

  1. Open a terminal, enter yast2, and press Enter.

  2. Choose Network Devices > Network Settings.

  3. Select the OS management port (eth0 in this example), and click Edit.

  4. Select Statically Assigned IP Address, enter the planned IP address and subnet mask, and click Add.

  5. Run the ifconfig command to check the IP address configuration result.

  6. Run the rcSuSEfirewall2 stop command to disable the firewall.

    NOTE:

Disabling the firewall may cause connection problems to tools such as Xshell. Skip this step if the firewall has been disabled during the OS installation.

  7. Use a network cable to connect to the newly configured network port and use a tool such as Xshell to access the IP address configured.

    1. Click the Xshell icon.

    2. Run the ssh 192.168.19.150 command, enter the user name root, and click OK to log in to the server OS management port.

    3. Enter the password set for the root user during the OS installation, and click OK.

The following information is displayed if the login is successful.

Configuring the IP Address for the Service Port Bond

  1. Open a terminal, enter yast2, and press Enter.

  2. Choose Network Devices > Network Settings.

  3. Select the first 10GE network port for the bond and click Edit.

  4. Select No Link and IP Setup (Bonding Slaves) and click Next.

  5. Repeat the preceding steps to configure the second 10GE port for the bond.
  6. Click Add.

  7. Select Bond from the Device Type drop-down list box and click Next.

  8. Select Statically assigned IP_Address, and enter the planned IP address, subnet mask, and host name.

  9. Click the Bond Slaves tab, select the two network ports (one from each NIC) to be bonded. In Bond Driver Options, select mode=2 (or mode=balance-xor), and click Next.

    NOTE:

The configured bonding mode must be consistent with the bonding mode of the switch port on the network.

  10. If you need to configure other Bond network ports, repeat the preceding steps. Click OK to save the configurations.
