Installing RHEL 7.2

NOTE:

This section uses RHEL7.2 as an example to describe the installation process. The procedure for installing RHEL7.3/7.4 is the same.

  1. Start the BIOS and go to the BIOS Setup Utility screen (the default BIOS password is Huawei12#$).
  2. Select Save&Exit, select UEFI: Virtual DVD-ROM VM 1.1.0 225 as the first boot option, and press Enter.

  3. On the initial installation screen, select Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 and press Enter.

  1. Press e. On the editing screen, locate the linuxefi line, add efi=old_map nowatchdog nosoftlockup rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_timeout=600 rcupdate.rcu_cpu_stall_suppress=1 before quiet, and press Ctrl+x.

  2. Select a language, and click Continue.

  1. Click DATE&TIME.

  2. Set the date and time and click Done to save changes and return.

  1. Click SOFTWARE SELECTION.

  1. Perform the following settings and click Done to save the configuration and return.

    1. In the Base Environment pane, select Infrastructure Server.
    2. In the Add-Ons for Selected Environment pane, select the following options:
      1. Large Systems Performance
      2. Network File System Client
      3. Performance Tool
      4. Compatibility Libraries

  1. Click INSTALLTION DESTINATION.

  1. Select the hard disk where the OS is to be installed, select a partitioning mode (select I will configure partitioning in this example), and click Done in the upper left corner.

  1. Create the /boot/ partition.

    1. In the MANUAL PARTITIONING area, select Standard Partition from the drop-down list box.

    2. Click +.

    3. Set Mount Point to /boot, set Desired Capacity to 1GiB, and click Add mount point.

    4. Select the newly created /boot partition, and set File System to ext4.

  2. Repeat the preceding steps to create the /boot/efi partition. Set Mount Point to /boot/efi, Desired Capacity to 1GiB, and File System to EFI System Partition.

  3. Create the swap partition.

    1. Click +, set Mount Point to swap, leave Desired Capacity empty, and click Add mount point.

    2. Select the newly created swap partition. Set Desired Capacity to 20 GiB, Device Type to LVM, and File System to swap. Click Create a new volume group under Volume Group. In the window displayed, select sda.

    3. Set Name to vg_os and click Save.

    4. Click Update Settings.

  4. Create the /usr/sap partition.

    1. Click +, set Mount Point to /usr/sap, set Desired Capacity to 200 GiB, and click Add mount point.

    2. Select the newly created /usr/sap partition. Set Device Type to LVM, Volume Group to vg_os, and File System to ext4. Click Update Settings.

  5. Create the / partition.

    1. Click +, set Mount Point to /, leave Desired Capacity empty, and click Add mount point.

    2. Select the newly created / partition. Set Desired Capacity to the remaining hard disk space size, Device Type to LVM, Volume Group to vg_os, and File System to ext4. Click Update Settings.

  6. Click Done.

  7. Click Accept Changes.

  8. Click NETWORK & HOST NAME.

  9. Enter the host name, and click Done.

  10. Click Begin Installation.

  11. Click ROOT PASSWORD. Set the password of the root user. Click USER CREATION. Set the user name and password to create a user.

  12. When the installation is complete, click Reboot.
