Creating and Formatting LVM

  1. Run the pvcreate /dev/nvme0n1 /dev/nvme1n1 command to create physical volumes.

  1. Run the pvs command to check physical volumes.

  1. Run the vgcreate vg_log /dev/nvme0n1 /dev/nvme1n1 command to create a virtual VG.

  1. Run the vgs command to check existing virtual VGs.

  1. Run the lvcreate --type raid1 -m 1 -L 1T -n lv_log vg_log command to create an LV. (This document uses the 1 TB LV as an example. You need to plan the LV capacity based on the site requirements. The maximum capacity of an LV cannot exceed 45% of the VG capacity. For example, if the VG capacity is 2.91 TB, the maximum capacity of an LV is 1.3 TB.)

  1. Run the lvs command to check existing LVs.

  1. Run the mkfs.xfs –f /dev/mapper/vg_log-lv_log command to format the LVM volume.
