1004004 Database Table Size Exceeds the Threshold

Description

In the database active/standby deployment scenario, the active database server checks data tables at 03:00 in the morning every day. This alarm is generated when the size of a data table exceeds two times of the size estimated by the number of table records. This alarm is cleared when the data table has no obvious increase (the table size is less than two times of the size estimated by the number of table records) at 03:00 in the morning on the next day.

Meaning

Alarm ID

Identifies an alarm. Each alarm is uniquely identified by an alarm ID and an alarm name.

Alarm Severity

Indicates the severity of an alarm. Value:

  • Critical: indicates that a fault affecting services provided by the system occurs. You need to rectify the fault immediately. If a device or resource is faulty, rectify it immediately even if the fault occurs during non-working hours.
  • Major: indicates that a fault affecting the service quality of the system occurs. You need to rectify the fault immediately. If the service quality of a device or resource is degraded, rectify it immediately during working hours.
  • Minor: indicates a fault that does not affect service quality. To prevent more serious faults, this type of alarm needs to be observed or handled if necessary.
  • Warning: indicates a fault that may affect service quality. This type of alarm must be handled based on the error type.

Alarm Name

Identifies an alarm. Each alarm is uniquely identified by an alarm ID and an alarm name.

Object Type

Specifies the type of the object for which the alarm is generated.

Alarm Object Name

Specifies the name of the object for which the alarm is generated.

Component Type

(This parameter exists only in FusionManager.)

Specifies the type of the component for which the alarm is generated.

Generation Time

Specifies the time when the alarm is generated.

Clear Time

Specifies the time when the alarm is cleared.

Clear Mode

Specifies whether the alarm is manually or automatically cleared.

Operation

Specifies the operation that can be performed on the alarm.

Value: Manually Clear Alarm

Impact on the System

The database table query speed is affected, and therefore the page refresh speed on the FusionAccess Portal and users' VM login speed from the WI are affected.

Possible Causes

  • The database garbage collection process is not started.
  • The data garbage collection process is blocked by uncommitted long transactions.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the database server for which the alarm is generated using a database administrator account.
  2. Run the shell command ps -ef | grep gaussdb | grep autovacuum | grep -v grep to check whether the database garbage collection process is running properly.

    • If yes, go to Step 5.
    • If no, go to Step 3.

      If the information similar to following is displayed, the process is running properly:

      gaussdba  67635  65931  0 Mar25 ?        00:00:56 gaussdb: autovacuum launcher process

  3. Run the shell command gs_ctl restart to restart the database service.
  4. Go to Step 10.
  5. Run the shell command gsql -d database name -U gaussdba to connect to the ITA database.

    If the ITA database name is FusionAccess, the command is gsql -d FusionAccess -U gaussdba.

  6. Enter the password as prompted.
  7. Run the following command to clear junk data:

    vacuum full;

  8. Run the \q command to disconnect from the database.
  9. If there is an HDC database, see steps 5-8 to clear junk data.
  10. After the alarm module detects data tables on the next day, Choose FusionManager > Monitoring or FusionAccess > Alarm to check whether the alarm still exists.

    • If yes, contact Huawei technical support.
    • If no, no further operation is required.
